When the Internet was “coming of age”, those who wanted a presence on the Internet had concerns in regard to the hassle and cost involved in having a website. Whether fun or money was the goal, to be one of the many who had an Internet presence, you needed to have a website at that time. Amateur ones were less costly, but were not terribly appealing to the visitor.
The blog was concocted as a “working man’s website” giving you your own place on the Net without having to create a website. From one mans blog to the next the blog spot became the favorite way of interacting with people online. Although dull, every one could afford it; but change was in the air.
After a short time the unassuming blog spot could boast interesting things that were previously only seen on websites. And before long people could create blogs of their own to discuss social and other issues, and sometimes to market products. Compared to a website, a blog was less difficult to start – and it wasn’t long before everyplace you look blogs were springing up on topics of every imaginable kind.
